GomKora Festival ~ Haa Valley Trek

Rusty will be leading this remote crossing of the Kingdom, GomKora Festival and Trek from March 24-April 10 2018.

In Bhutan, colorful birds like Ms Gould’s sunbird, and endemics like Golden Langurs and numerous other exotic wildlife are frequently encountered. With FORESTS of rhododendrons (not bushes, but tall trees!), orchids, flowering Magnolia trees, etc., Bhutan has a largely intact natural history. If you have heard that there tigers in the forests and snow leopards in the mountains, though super rare to see, it is true. Besides witnessing the rarely seen GomKora festival, the pageantry and devotion of pilgrims we’ll be going trekking along trails through rhodie forests into the highlands where we hope to see Blue Sheep (bharal are the primary food source for snow leopard), and glacier cover high Himalaya.

We’ll cross Bhutan, enter it’s bright white fortress monasteries (Dzong), witness a remote and medieval festival, and then trek quiet trails ascending into the highlands. Click on the full itinerary for the complete trip details. Time is short, Paro Bhutan flights Will Be Full … contact us with your questions and reserve GomKora Festival & Haa Valley Trek.
