Day 1 Leave the USA and arrive into Quito Ecuador that evening. Meet Rusty and the other travelers. (prudence would suggest arriving two days early to allow for flight flight challenges.
Day 2 Morning flight to Baltra Island, met by your naturalist lets have fun. Sailing on the M/Y Beluga, Tower Eastern Itinerary.
Day 2 – 8 We have many islands to visit for this week. Our focus, besides an active walking/hiking/snorkeling adventure, is natural history science. Learning about the islands biologically, geologically and from a botanists point of view. Along the way we’ll learn about Darwin, the Grants, the historical and current history of the islands. Restoration work currently going on too will also be addressed as we visit two interpretive centers. Rusty has arranged for our meeting “boots” (sandals too) on the ground scientists who are actively involved with this, one of the great World Heritage sites on earth.
Day 9 After breakfast we’ve a landing on Santa Cruz Island to visit a bay filled with red mangroves, rich in biodiversity and a nursery for fish, sea turtles and birds. It’s a great site and our last before returning to Baltra and our 2.5 hour return flight to Baltra.
Day 10 Airport transfer to Quito. It’s your choice as to what you do at this point. Most travelers will stay the night and either depart for the USA or stay in Ecuador for more fun or perhaps travel to Peru.

Every day, nearly every minute, there is something, a situation or scene deserving the attention of your binoculars or camera during this adventure. Come prepared to say “Wow” and “Amazing” and “wow, that’s so cool.” This will happen a lot.
